The midfielder started in Tottenham's 3-1 win over Bodo/Glimt last Thursday but had to be subbed off after he suffered a knee injury. According to The Athletic, Maddison suffered significant ligament damage to his knee and is expected to be sidelined for around three months, ruling him out of the end of the season, including a potential Europa League final.

WHAT ANGE POSTECOGLOU SAID

Manager Ange Postecoglou had previously delivered an optimistic update on Maddison, saying before the 1-1 draw with West Ham: "We're pretty hopeful with Dom that it will be OK, he's improving every day but it made no sense to bring him on today. Maddison's a bit more of a concern until we get some more information but he's the one that's more of a concern."

AFPWHAT NEXT FOR TOTTENHAM?

Spurs will be hoping to qualify for the Europa League final after a healthy first-leg win over Bodo/Glimt but Maddison will be missed, having entered a decent run of form. Tottenham could take on Manchester United in the final as the Red Devils hold a 3-0 lead going into the second leg of their semi-final tie against Athletic Club at Old Trafford.
