Rangnekar XI made a fine start with openersPrabhodan Kanse and Sandesh Amrute putting on 98 runs. But some finebowling by spinners Vikrant Yelligetti and Pushkaraj Korde, whoclaimed four victims each, changed the course of the game. Languishingat the botton of the table with three points, Merchant XI appeared tohave the edge at stumps making 113 for one.In another match, defending champions Vijay Manjrekar XI bowled outDattu Phadkar XI for 195. Hiken Shah and Siddhart Bhatkar added 75runs off 19 overs for the eighth wicket. Speaking on the occasion, Ganguly said he was happy toreceive the award. “I could not find the time earlier to receive theaward but now that I have got it, I feel very happy.”Australian captain Steve Waugh received the award in 1999 while Indianbatting maestro Sachin Tendulkar had got it in 1998.
